All the actions of the authorities directed at the organization of transparent and democratic elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine meet resistance from the opposition, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said in the interview with Financial Times, ForUm learned from the Cabinet’s press office.

"We must ensure free and democratic elections. The most interesting thing is that everything we do for this meets resistance from our opposition. They have been reported previously that the results of elections will be falsified. And I ask a simple question: if you are against fraud, then why do not you support the installation of web cameras at polling stations?" Azarov said.

He added that the installation of web cameras allows the on-line control over the election process at each polling station.

The Prime Minister said that under the election law, the representatives of the opposition parties are included in the membership of election commissions and they have all opportunities to control the integrity and transparency of elections and vote counting.

Azarov also said that Ukraine has invited an unprecedented number of observers from all the international organizations including the OSCE, the Council of Europe and the European Commission.
