As of today, 18.3 million tons of grain have been collected in Ukraine, the minister of agricultural policy and food of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk told a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers, as ForUm correspondent reports.

"Today the harvest has reached the final stage. The forecast expected 9.9 million hectares of grain crops, and we have threshed 80% of the forecast that equals to18.3 million tons of grain with an average yield of 23.2 quintals per hectare. Several regions have already reached the millionth line of the grain harvest," he said.

According to him, 1.5 million tons were threshed in Odessa region, about 1.4 million tons in Kharkiv and Vinnytsa regions and more than 1 million tons in Cherkasy and Zaporizhia regions.

"Throughout Ukraine the wheat was collected on the territory of 4.7 million hectares amounting to 82% of the total number. The harvest is expected to be less in the amount amid the last year due to the difficult weather conditions. The bad weather conditions, in particular, the cold weather in January and February and the spring drought in some regions, have damaged the grain crop," the minister said.

According to him, this year the drought has also damaged the crop in the USA and Europe.
