Commenting on signing of the agreement amending the visa facilitation agreement between Ukraine and the EU, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Kluyiev said that simplification in the visa regime between Ukraine and the European Union is a small but important step towards the introduction of visa-free regime for our citizens, ForUm learned from the NSDCU press service.

"Ukraine and the European Union got much closer to the complete abolition of the visa regime, by liberalizing the requirements for several categories of citizens visiting the EU," Kluyiev said.

The secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine said that a significant number of Ukrainian citizens will benefit from entering into the force this agreement, as the circle of persons who may apply for long-term, multiply-entry and free visas was extended. In particular, the members of NGOs, religious communities, the participants in international forums, members of the journalistic team, people visiting relatives, as well as several other categories fall under the agreement.

Kluyiev expressed the conviction that the public diplomacy conducted by the ordinary citizens of Ukraine and the European Union may be even more effective than the actions of professional diplomats.

"I am confident that the signing of the visa facilitation agreement is not the last success of our country on the way to the European integration," he stressed.
