Yesterday, on July 24, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov met with a special representative of the President of the Russian Federation Viktor Zubkov, who on behalf of the head of Russia arrived in Kyiv to pay last respects to Bohdan Stupka, the press service of the Cabinet informed.

Zubkov said that on behalf of the Russian President Vladimir Putin he expressed condolences to the family of Bohdan Stupka and all Ukrainian people. He noted that the Ukrainian and the Russian nations would never forget the merits of the great actor. His activity will always remain a bright page of the cultural history of our states and a powerful generator of creativity for new generations.

Azarov, in turn, noted that the life and distinguished career of Bohdan Stupka is a glaring example of the fact that not only modern economic relationships unite Ukraine and Russia, but also deep, not devalued common historical, cultural and humanitarian values.

"Of course, we build relations with Russia on a pragmatic basis according to the national interests, but taking into account the special factors of the historical coexistence and neighbourhood," the head of the government said.

The parties also discussed a number of topical issues of the Ukrainian-Russian relations, in particular, the implementation of the construction project of the third and the fourth power units of the Khmelnytsk nuclear power station at the expense of the Russian loan, as well as the ways to overcome the obstacle and restrictions in the mutual trade.

Azarov and Zubkov stressed the importance of constant dialogue between the governments of Ukraine and Russia for solving raised problems quickly. As a special representative of the President of the Russian Federation, Viktor Zubkov pledged his openness and readiness for communication with the Ukrainian government on all issues.
