The President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski called support for Ukraine's European integration the priority of the Polish foreign policy, the statement published in the press service of the President of Poland says.

"Another one challenge is the proactive policy in favor of good-neighborliness. That is reasonable support for Ukraine on its way to the West," Komorowski said on July 24 at the annual conference of the Polish ambassadors.

At the same time, he said, this road is full of difficulties, obstacles and contradictions.

"But if to assess the situation so, then our state is to have iron determination, iron will and a desire to bring this strategic goal to complete success in the future," the President said.

Komorowski called strengthening the position of Poland in the period of crisis in the European Union, a more pragmatic approach to relations with Russia and the strengthening the cooperation with the United States among the other major challenges before the Polish foreign policy.

On July 24, Komorowski also met with EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton. The main topic of their conversation was the prospects of joint security and defense policy and the EU Neighbourhood Policy, the relations between the EU and Ukraine in particular.

Komorowski and Ashton also discussed the prospects of signing and ratifying the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
