The minister of emergencies Viktor Baloga has called the Prime Minister, the head of civil protection of Ukraine Mykola Azarov to instruct a holding of an extraordinary meeting of the State Commission on the technogenic and ecological safety and emergencies on August 7, as the press service of the Emergencies Ministry reports.

At the meeting, the minister of emergencies offers to study in detail the causes that may lead to floods in Ukraine on the large areas due to heavy rains and showers and take appropriate actions to prevent similar cases.

"The instability of the weather in Ukraine, the high probability of significant precipitations and the existing problems with the state of population warning systems, dams and hydraulic structures on water bodies require the urgent organizational and practical measures," Baloga said.

The minister of emergencies stressed that this issue is particularly relevant due to the fact that recently many countries around the world have suffered from heavy rains that led to the deaths of hundreds of people and caused a considerable material damage. In the particular, this refers to China, India, and Georgia.
