The Ukrainian government considers irrigation program to be a long-term one, as it will be implemented not only in Kherson region, but in Crimea and other areas as well, the PM Mykola Azarov said during his working visit to Kherson region, ForUm learned from the Cabinet’s press office.

Within his visit, Azarov visited the main pumping station of the Head department of the Kahovsky supply channel, where he got acquainted with the channel’s work, as well as with the prospects for the use and development of the channel facilities to meet the needs of farmers of Ukraine’s south.
"Our task is to provide water supply to people 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is a real problem for Kherson region. It will be solved. The money will be allocated," said Azarov.

He also recalled that the problems of water supply and irrigation system development in Ukraine were discussed at yesterday's Cabinet meeting.

"This trip was planned long ago to see how the program of rehabilitation of the irrigated land is implemented in regions. This issue is really important in terms of significant climate change," the head of the government said.
