The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych demands from the leaders of local authorities to ensure fair and transparent election campaign, the head of the state said during his meetings with the leaders of the regional state administrations in Crimea, as ForUm learned from the presidential press service.

"The government must create all conditions for holding fair and democratic elections," Yanukovych said.

The President paid a special attention of the regional leaders to the importance of strict observance of the norms of the current electoral legislation and the provision of the equal conditions for holding the pre-election campaign to all the participants of the electoral process. He stressed that there are all necessary conditions, as the law on proper parliamentary was adopted a year before the elections in Ukraine. "The new electoral law has become a result of the successful political compromise. The international observers have also noted this success," he said.

The holding of election will influence the international image of our country, the further successful implementation of the internal reforms and the implementation of social initiatives, the President said.

"The election campaign should go flawlessly, in full accordance with international standards," he said adding that the priority should be given to the openness and transparency of the electoral process, reliable protection of the rights of voters.

The President also stressed that the local authorities must now test the readiness of the voting stations and provide repairs if it is necessary. "Also, everything should be prepared to ensure the public order the day before and on the election day," the President added.
