Currently, 67% of waters in Ukraine are suitable for public recreation, the head of the State Inspection for Technogenic Safety of Ukraine Taras Polishchuk told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to the official, 2667 places of public entertainment on the waters are registered with the Inspection. "The worst situation is in Lutsk region. There only 28% of waters were admitted as suitable for recreation, in Dnipropetrovsk region- 23%, in Poltava region- 12%, in Sumy region - 36%, in Chernivtsi region - 40%. In Kyiv, 25 spots of water recreation were approved out of 69. In Kyiv region, only half of waters out of 58 received official permits," he said.

According to Polishchuk, the majority of regional programs on water rescue are being poorly funded, and in some regions such programs are not approved at all.

According to the head of the State Inspection for Technogenic Safety of Ukraine, it is not surprising that under such circumstances that 286 out of 982 people already died in Ukraine in the water this summer became the victims of non-equipped beaches. "At the moment, non-equipment of the beaches is punished by a fine, the maximum amount of which makes up 170 UAH," the official complained.
