Despite the increase in the number of administrative reports drawn up for violating the passenger transportation rules, the number of the accidents does not decrease, the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said during the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.

"There is a paradoxical situation. From year to year the number of fines for violations of the rules of passenger transportation increase, but it does not reduce the number of injuries and fatalities on roads," he said.

According to the PM, there is a need for immediate and decisive actions to be done. "I address the Interior Ministry and all its divisions, especially the traffic police: traffic safety has always been your highest priority. However, is it (traffic safety. - Ed.) being ensured properly now?" he asked.

In addition, Azarov instructed the Infrastructure Ministry and the Economic Development Ministry to verify whether they are not carried away by the deregulation in the field of passenger transportation.
