The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed the Declaration on principles of the Ukrainian-Russian strategic partnership, as ForUm learned from the press service of the Head of State.

The Declaration stipulates the main ideas of the strategic partnership between Russia and Ukraine, including deepening of the bilateral cooperation, providing of the mutual support for carrying out the social and economic reforms, modernization of the economy, strengthening of the legal democratic state and the civil society development, strengthening of the friendship and cooperation development between the nations.

The document provides for the basic mechanisms of the strategic partnership implementation. Firstly it means a constant interaction between the parties, especially in the frame of regular summit meetings with the active use of the mechanism of the Ukrainian-Russian interstate commission, joint solving of important problems within the relevant multilateral formats on the most important all European and global issues, international and regional security issues, cooperation in the humanitarian and human rights protection fields.

The Declaration identifies the main spheres of the Ukrainian-Russian relations, including political, economic, environmental, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as fields of science, education, media, sports, tourism, youth policy, and the basic directions of cooperation in these sectors.
