The strategy of European integration underlies the Ukraine's foreign policy, the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said during the informal meeting with the Club of Editors of the CIS countries, the Baltic States and Georgia, ForUm learned from the President’s press office.
The head of the state at the same time pointed out that in this issue "for Ukraine it is more important not formal prospects, but the real results in the transition of society to the European model of development."
Today, as the President noted, Ukraine sees that the Europeans are not ready to take concrete steps and prefer making statements only. "We understand the reasons for this situation. I've already talked about this many times, and we are willing to wait," Yanukovych said.
However, according to the President, that does not mean a break in the European transformation of Ukraine. On the contrary, he said, "we concentrate on the solving domestic tasks," in particular, improvement of national legislation and bringing it closer to European standards.
