Eight million tons of grain have already been gathered during the harvesting campaign, the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, as ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, the average yield of grain in the central regions equals 30 quintals per hectare, and more than 40% of the area has already been covered.

He also noted that the grain harvest in 2012 will be sufficient for both the domestic market and export, and its price will be profitable for the producer.

At the same time, he criticized the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for poor preparedness of the laboratories to expertise the grain quality on the harvest gathering points. "The farmers address me saying that they can not get the results of laboratories on the grain quality, as there are no accredited laboratories," the government head said.

Azarov has instructed the Cabinet to resolve this issue.
