The President took part in celebrations on occasion of 80th anniversary of Donetsk region in Donetsk.
The President congratulated Donetsk citizens with the holiday. “At this solemn day I’d like to congratulate you with this holiday, with region’s anniversary. I wish you success and creative energy,” the President said in the course of his speech.
Viktor Yanukovych noted that Donetsk region has a significant place in modern Ukraine. “It is “the locomotive” of country’s economy, it is “the industrial heart”,” the President said. According to him, every tenth citizen of Ukraine lives in this region and more than 20% of Ukrainian production is from Donetsk area.
The President emphasized that the production of coal, metallurgical, chemical and machine-building enterprises of Donetsk region is famous worldwide.
On occasion of the holiday Viktor Yanukovych presented state awards.
The President also watched the holiday concert.
