Advisor to the President, Hanna Herman did not rule out that the President Viktor Yanukovych may veto the controversial language bill, ForUm learned from Herman’s press office.

"If the Parliament submits the bill to the President for signing, we can expect several solutions. I would not rule out a veto," she said.

Herman also pointed out that the President will take his decision only after the consultation with experts and only if the law fully complies with the Constitution, which defines the Ukrainian language as the state.

In addition, the advisor to the President noted that half the population of Ukraine is Russian-speaking and they should be treated with respect. According to her, Yanukovych will consider this fact while making his decision, as he is the President of the whole country, not the specific regions.
