The head of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov called the talks about resignation of the speaker of the Parliament Volodymyr Lytvyn premature, he told reporters on the sidelines of the Parliament, ForUm correspondent reports.

Yefremov also stressed that the basis for the consideration of the resignation is the statement of Lytvyn himself. "We must have a statement. I have not seen that statement, so it is too early to speak about resignation," he said, adding that the consideration of this issue during the session may take place only the day after the registration of the relevant statement.

"I continue insisting on that we should abstain from emotional evaluations," he stressed.
Responding the question who could replace Lytvyn at the position of the speaker, Yefremov said that he does not know and this issue was not discussed.

Yefremov also stated that the bill on changing the procedure for the election and dismissal of the speaker of the Parliament was not a short-term solution. "The bill has long been registered and in connection with the current situation, the MPs decided to return to the method of voting it was before to ensure the stable work of the Parliament," the MP said.
