The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and Ukrainian footballer Andriy Shevchenko discussed the football development in our country. The President also thanked the outstanding footballer and the Ukrainian squad for a good game in the Euro 2012 finals, ForUm learned from the President’s press service.
"We talked a lot about the brilliant hosting the European Championship, the world and the European public reaction to its holding in Ukraine and Poland," the player said after the meeting with the head of the state. "... The President thanked for the game, for the excellent performance of the Ukrainian national team."
Speaking on the relevance of the football development in Ukraine, Shevchenko, in particular, emphasized the importance of conducting football classes in schools.
"It is very important, as the great interest (in football) has arisen after the European Championships. I believe that in Ukraine football is a sport number one, and it must be developed," Shevchenko said.
