The ex-interior minister of Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko demands that the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and the prosecutor general Viktor Pshonka comply with the decision of the European Court, which today recognized his arrest to be illegal, says the statement of Lutsenko, published on the People’s Self-Defense Party web-site.

Lutsenko said that under the Article 16 of the Law on complying with the decisions and applying the practice of the European Court of Human Rights, in the case of nonperformance or improper performance of the European Court's decision, the officials whom refers the decision to, shall bear administrative, civil or criminal responsibility under the laws of Ukraine. According to the Article 17 of the same law, the Ukrainian courts shall apply the Convention on Human Rights and the European Court's practice as a source of law while considering the cases.

In this regard, Lutsenko demands to comply with the decision of the European Court of Human Rights. In addition, the ex-minister insists on bringing to justice a number of officials, including the first deputy prosecutor general, the judges of Pechersk district court of Kyiv, the judges of the Court of Appeal of Kyiv "for violation of my constitutional rights, which was manifested in the unjustified arrest of more than 18 months."
