This year Ukrainian universities will take 517 thousand first-year students, head of the Education Ministry's department on higher education Yuri Korovaychenko told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
In particular, this year state order for specialists includes 79 thousand junior specialists, 127 thousand 200 students with bachelor's degree, 74 thousand specialists and 44 thousand 600 masters. The official noted that this year state order corresponds to the state order of 2010 and makes 50-60% of the total number of students.
According to Korovaychenko, this year the state gives priority to technical professions, especially in IT sphere. "This year state order for IT specialists has increased by 26% comparing to the last year," he said.
The official also informed that as of today there are 12 thousand 335 applicants registered by the university boards, and 6291 out of the total applied through electronic system of submission.
The Education Ministry has called upon applicants to use more the electronic system of submission to save the time and money, especially those, who live far from the universities of interest.
