The Finance Ministry of Ukraine has financed the compensation payments to USSR Saving bank's depositors at the amount of 1.5 billion hryvnias, director of the financial policy department of the Ministry Tetyana Sysoyeva told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

In this respect, the official does not rule out that the Finance Ministry may finish the program financing ahead of schedule.

In his turn, deputy governor of Oshchadbank Anton Tyutyun declared that the state budget had provided for maximum sum of money "to make sure all depositors could get compensations".
"The compensations are being paid fast. We are sure we can manage to finish earlier. By the beginning of December the major part of depositors will have been served. In December we expect rather small number of remaining clients," he explained and added if any money is left it will be returned to the Finance Ministry.

"More than 55% of depositors have been registered. Almost 42% of depositors have passed the update and know the date and time of the payment procedure. About 12% of the registered have already received the payments," Tyutyun specified.

The official also reminded that from September 1 the Oshchadbank will start registering other depositors of the USSR Saving bank, who has not been included in the system so far.

"As a representative office of the government, we will register new depositors so they can get compensations next year. If the state budget continues allotting money for the program we will carry on payments in 2013," he said.
