Ukraine relies on the deepen energy cooperation with countries of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovskiy said during the BSEC Summit meeting of State and Government Heads held on June 26, 2012 in Istanbul, as ForUm learned from the First Vice PM press office.

According to him, the BSEC has been operating for 20 years, and for this time it has become a leading platform for the economic cooperation not only in the Black Sea region, but even beyond its borders.

He stressed that Ukraine is willing to develop the cooperation with the BSEC countries and is ready for the most intense interaction with all participants. "Today the BSEC Member States continue the effective implementation of the major regional projects of strategic importance particularly in the energy field despite of the global economic crisis," he stressed.

In addition, he noted that environmental protection should remain the strategic sphere for all countries in the region. "We have to focus on solving environmental problems by effective coordination of activities in this field and the introduction of the environmentally responsible economy principles," Khoroshkovskiy said.
