The Strategic Framework of Customs co-operation between Ukraine and the EU entered into force, the first vice prime minister of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky stated, ForUm learned from Khoroshkovsky’s spokesman.

On June 22, 2012, the first vice prime minister of Ukraine signed a letter to a member of the European Commission on Taxation, Customs Union, Audit and Anti-Fraud Algirdas Gediminas Shemet which sent the text the Strategic Framework for Customs Cooperation to the European side. Thus, the parties concluded an exchange of letters and the Strategic Framework has come into force.

Khoroshkovsky noted that the Strategic Framework is an important document that defines the priorities for cooperation in customs matters of the parties, implementation of which will promote cooperation in information exchange and implementation of effective risk management system in the fight against customs offenses.

The parties agreed to create a joint working group in the near future to implement the Strategic Framework.
