Chairman of the State customs service Ihor Kaletnyk leaves open a possibility of the tax and customs services merger in long-term future, he said at the briefing today.
"I think we may consider the merge of the tax and customs into one single state department, but not earlier than in 5 years or even later," he said.
According to Kaletnyk, it is necessary to study the possible risks.
"Today no one can say which formula is the best. If there was a proven system, everyone would use it," Kaletnyk noted.
He reminded that currently the customs and tax departments have already merged data bases for cooperation. In the future we plan for the customs and tax police officers to cooperate while exposing violations of tax laws.
