An opening ceremony of the Monument to frontier guards has been held today in Zaporizhya on the occasion of the Mourning Day.
"We must remember every day of the war. The people, who do not remember the terrible past, will have a terrible future. The monuments to heroes of the Great Patriotic War must become such places, where people come not only to mourn the past, but also to think about the future. Today we can discuss and argue, but we do not have the right to quarrel or fight. We paid a high price for the peace we have now. This memorial is a reminder to remember heroes and to maintain the peace," statement of the Zaporizhya state city administration says.
This year the city budget has allocated one million hryvnais for landscaping and beautification of the park, where the monument was erected.
