The practical cooperation within the CIS should be activated, the first vice prime minister of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky said during the meeting of the CIS Economic Council, held on June 21, 2012 in St. Petersburg, ForUm learned from the spokesman of Khoroshkovsky.
"We consider the CIS Economic Council to be the multilateral framework for promoting economic growth in Ukraine. Hence we are interested in activating the practical cooperation within the CIS," the first vice prime minister of Ukraine emphasized.
According to him, Ukraine is to hold the multilateral talks on increasing the export of the Ukrainian production to the CIS countries. "Ukraine is interested in maximal use of the economic and trade potential of the CIS countries," he said.
During the working visit to the Russian Federation, the first vice prime minister of Ukraine also met with the first vice prime minister of Russia Igor Shuvalov. The ministers discussed the bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
On March 20, 2012, the Parliament of Russian Federation ratified the agreement on free trade area within the CIS.
