According to the official, the parliament has registered three draft bills by the Party of Regions MP Serhiy Kivalov, which propose to amend civil, economic and administrative codes enabling to hold court procedures in the Russian language.
In his view, the adoption of these bills is an attempt to divide the society. "Do not engage in populism and do not split the society," Martynenko said.
In his turn, the Party of Regions Vadym Kolesnichenko explained that these draft bills enable judges to hold proceedings in a non-state language.
"On December 29 last year the Supreme Court of Ukraine recognized as legal the use of regional languages in court proceedings. Now we have to introduce relevant amendments to the judicial codes. The draft bill also stipulate for regional language knowledge evaluation of every judge, appointed in this or that region," the MP said.
In his turn, Chairman of the parliamentary committee on culture and spirituality Volodymyr Yavorivski told ForUm that the given draft bills practically enable judges to choose the language of legal proceedings. "This is a part of the Plan on Russification," Yavorivski believes.
