During his working visit to the Kharkiv region, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov visited a pharmacy in the village Chervonyi Donets and checked the reference prices for medicines, ForUm learned from the Cabinet’s press office.
"The affordable medicines are the issue of life prolongation of the people, prolongation of their labor activity. It is a fundamental issue for us," Azarov said.
In addition, he noted that the government’s initiative on providing the population with the high-quality and affordable medicines is not a campaign, but a long-term strategy, which covers the development of Ukrainian medicines production, regulation of prices for imported medicines and the introduction of reference prices for healthcare products.
Azarov also said that the Ukrainian government and the domestic medicines manufacturers signed a memorandum of understanding, under which the pharmacists voluntarily limited the level of profitability.
