Already 40 contracts have been concluded by the program "Affordable housing", director of state programs department of the Ministry on regional development Oleksandr Nepomniashchiy told the roundtable "Affordable and conformable housing", ForUm correspondent reports.

According to the official, there are six thousand Ukrainians, registered for the program, and four thousand apartments, waiting for new owners. He also informed that this week his department would study another 1500 apartments, submitted for the program.

In his turn, deputy chairman of Oshchadbank Anton Tiutiun noted that Ukrainians are not very eager to participate in the program, as the majority of citizens still do not believe in state long-term compensations. According to him, Ukrainians will be more convinced when the parliament adopts amendments to the legislation on this issue.

According to Ukrgazbank representative Olena Dmitriyeva, for the moment the major clients are state employees, like teachers or militaries.

In his turn, chairman of NBU department on currency reserves and open market operations Oleksandr Dubikhvost pointed out that the program "Affordable housing" should help ordinary citizens to buy an apartment, not to assist real estate dealers in earning more money.

"Within the time everybody will understand that this program is the right thing for people," the official summed up.
