President Viktor Yanukovych has addressed the OSCE with a letter inviting the organization’s observers to the parliamentary elections in Ukraine on October 28.

“Reaffirming my particular interest in holding honest and transparent elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in full compliance with high international standards, I would like to address you with a request for assistance in delegating an official observer mission to Ukraine,” the President said in the letter, ForUm learned from the President's press office.

The President expressed certainty that all the participants of electoral process in Ukraine are interested in our country’s close cooperation with the international community and the broadest presence of international observers at the elections.

The President stressed that the Ukrainian government consistently abides by the basic principles of electoral legislation established by the Constitution and international agreements of Ukraine: guaranteeing free elections, their publicity and openness.
