The officers of the Department for combating drug trafficking of Shevchenko district of Kyiv detained two organized groups engaged in the international trafficking of hard drugs into the territory of Ukraine, ForUm learned from the Kyiv police department spokesman.
Each group included not only the citizens of Ukraine, but the foreigners as well as – the citizens of Estonia and Panama.
43-year-old Estonian, being for a long time engaged in cocaine, amphetamine and ecstasy trafficking in the Ukraine, set up a family business. In the house of his 31-year-old nephew, he made a real "drug storage". He was buying "happy dust" in Estonia and then crossing the border of our country by his own car. Mostly, the drugs were distributed among the youth in the night entertainment establishments of Kyiv.
Policemen seized drugs and psychotropic substances, of total cost of more than 60,000 U.S. dollars directly from these two men, as well as from their hiding place.
32-year-old leader of another group of drug dealers, who has dual citizenship of Georgia and Panama, has selected a very dangerous and not popular method of the hard drugs trafficking, delivering drugs in his own stomach. For more than a year, he has been importing cocaine from Panama into Ukraine. The last time he bought half a kilo of cocaine totaling more than 100,000 U.S. dollars. The day before the arrival, he arranged the meeting with his colleague on the drugs sales. Criminals agreed to meet in the center of Kyiv. During the business meeting, the men were detained by the Department for combating drug trafficking officers. 28-year-old citizen of Kyiv earlier had problems with law for drug trafficking. But after the punishment his greed won once again.
Currently, the issues of measures of restraint and initiating criminal proceedings under the Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are being considered.
For such a crime, the Ukrainian legislation provides imprisonment for a period of 9 to 12 years with confiscation of property.
