The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych brought into force the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on the new edition of the National Security Strategy of Ukraine. The relevant Decree of the President of Ukraine is available on the official website of the head of the state.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is entrusted to implement the National Security Strategy of Ukraine.
As ForUm learned from the spokesman of the NSDC of Ukraine secretary Andriy Klyuyev, the government is also entrusted to work out and provide within six months the system on improving the monitoring of the national security of Ukraine, in particular by the introduction of indicators of the state of national security, collection, processing and analysis of information about developments in various areas of national security on relevant indicators, assessing and forecasting its development and possible negative effects. The officials are also to work out the mechanism of rapid response to the risks and threats to the national security, the introduction of common forms of informing the heads of central and local executive authorities about the situation in various areas of national security on relevant indicators and forecasts of indicators of the state of the national security for a five year period.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Kyiv and Sevastopil city state administrations are to report annually before February 1 before the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on the developments in various areas of the national security on relevant indicators and forecasts on the indicators of the state of the national security for a five year period.
The secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and the National Institute for Strategic Studies are entrusted to file annually by April 1, and in case of need an mergency report on the state of the national security of Ukraine.
The control over the implementation of this Decree is assigned to the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Klyuyev.
