Sooner or later the price for Russian gas will be reduced, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said during the meeting with expert economists to discuss import substitution, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Why should people pay more by 3-4 times, when compared with the Germans or the Slovaks? Are people guilty for such high gas price? No, this is not their fault," Azarov said.

According to the Prime Minister, the problem lies in "the ruling elite, which concluded the agreement with Russia."

As reported, Ukraine is looking for alternative energy sources to reduce dependence on gas supplies from Russia.

On June 2, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said that the government conducts a policy of ensuring energy independence of Ukraine on his Facebook page.
