To revive the shipbuilding industry in Ukraine, we need available funding, compensation for lending rates and customs preferences, a businessman Vadym Novynsky said a briefing in the Administration of the President of Ukraine, ForUm correspondent reports.

“Ukraine is a country with a rich tradition of shipbuilding. But today the industry is in certain oblivion. To change this, we should credit the shipbuilding companies. Loans should be available, cheap enough,” he said.

Novynsky added that another important option is to free importation of equipment for shipyards from VAT and customs duties. “Another way is to do some kind of collateral, so that a company does not pay the VAT and import duties at once," Novynsky said. If the state has a possibility, it can compensate for the cost of ships built, as it is practiced in Korea and Japan”.
