Ukrainians in Europe protested against the draft law on the principles of the national language policy in Ukraine by Serhiy Kivalov and Vadym Kolesnichenko.

The protest rallies were held in Italy, Portugal, Germany, Spain and Greece within the framework of the All-European move “Language lives – Ukraine will live!”

In Rome the protesters held the rally near the Embassy of Ukraine.

"People were protesting, singing Ukrainian songs. Posters in Italian were facing the roadway for the Italians to understand the essence of the protest. Two representatives of the Embassy came out to talk with the participants of the rally and received the statement of the World Congress of Ukrainians regarding the language problem," the chairman of the Christian Society of Ukrainians in Italy Oles Horodetsky said.

In Lisbon the Ukrainians held a car protest organized by the Union of Ukrainians in Portugal. Cars decorated with Ukrainian symbols and protest posters drove along the embassies of different countries, the Ukrainian one including. Portugal political parties, EU MPs and the media also delivered a joint statement criticizing the language draft law.

In Munich, a protest rally was organized by the Union of Ukrainian Students in Germany. The Ukrainians protested in Frankfurt, Berlin, Athens, Madrid and other cities as well. According to the initiators, the All-European move was organized solely by the society and political parties bear no relation to this.
