The "Eastern partnership" program can become a good basis for the realization of Ukraine and Moldova aspirations to join the EU, the first vice prime minister of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky said during the meetings with the President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Yuri Leanca, the spokesman of Khoroshkovsky reported.

Khoroshkovsky underlined the high level of the relationships between Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova in the political and economic areas and also noted the prospects of collaboration between the states within the framework of the “Eastern partnership” program.

"Ukraine supports the European integration course of Moldova. We are interested in cooperation, exchange of experience and are ready for the concerted action in this direction," he said.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the problem of settling the Transdniestrian conflict. According to the first vice prime minister of Ukraine, the conflict settlement is to be based on respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova. Khoroshkovsky stressed that Ukraine is ready to take advantage of the OSCE chairmanship to assist in settling this issue.

As reported, the first vice prime minister of Ukraine Khoroshkovsky during a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Filat said that in 2011 the trade turnover between Ukraine and Moldova increased by 25%.
