Children’s Ombudsman of Ukraine Yuri Pavlenko visited the Kyiv pretrial detention centre. The purpose of the visit was to check the detention conditions of the children, the organization of general education courses, cultural activities and the provision of legal assistance to juvenile prisoners, ForUm learned from the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine press service.
During his visit Mr. Pavlenko visited the secondary school, talked with the children, listened to their concerns and questions and promised to help solve their problems.
Currently 38 children, including 9 suspected of committing grave offenses, are detained in the Kyiv pretrial detention centre .
