The state budget must have a protected article regarding the compensation of the interest rate by the program "Affordable housing", Oshchadbank chairman Serhiy podrezov told a roundtable "Financial stability in Ukraine: main challenges of the second year half", a ForUm correspondent reports.

According to the official, potential borrowers do not want to take the credit because they do not trust the construction site developers to deliver the apartments on time, and because they do not trust the state to compensate 13% out of 16% interest rate.

"It's nonsense. People have passed the selective process of the "Affordable housing" program but do not want to take the credit," he said.

According to Podrezov, the government's resolution indeed lacks some guarantees that the state will compensate the major part of the interest rate for the whole period of crediting - 15 years.

"In this respect we have submitted a draft bill, which stipulates the Finance Ministry's obligations to secure credit compensations in an article of the state budget," the banker explained.

The official also informed that as of today the bank has granted five credits by the "Affordable housing" program. On the total the banks has received 300-400 applications.

As reported, according to PM Azarov, a family can be granted a credit by the "Affordable housing" program if its joint income does not exceed 5-6 thousand hryvnias per month.
