The Rector of the Dnipropetrovsk University Mykola Polyakov confirmed that one of the suspects in the Dnipropetrivsk bombings on April 27 worked as the senior lecturer at the Chair of political science.

"Since November 2011, one of the suspects Viktor Sukachev has been working a part-time senior lecturer at the Chair of political science. He won the contest and gave a special course named Public administration and local self-government. Two other suspects were not working at the University," the Rector told a press conference on Tuesday.

He also mentioned that the detention of the university’s professor came as bolt from the blue and “total shock”.

The rector noted that the University contributed to the investigation progresses.

Polyakov also added that "we were not fortunate to have such a man as a member of our staff."

In 2000 Sukachev graduated from Dnipropetrivsk University. In 2005 he defended his Candidate for Ph.D. in Political Sciences thesis on "Political institutions and processes." He worked as a teacher of secondary school № 66, an analyst of the newspaper “Zarya” (Dawn) and “Business and Politics."
