Ukraine hosts the "Modern strategy to combat against financial (tax) crimes" international conference, organized by the State Tax Service of Ukraine with the assistance of the European Commission.

The conference is held at the National State Tax Service University in Irpin, Kyiv region, as ForUm correspondent reports.

The participants include the colleagues of the Ukrainian tax officials from 16 countries, in particular, from Lithuania, Germany, Estonia, Poland, the Netherlands, the UK, Belgium, Georgia, Belarus, Israel, Kazakhstan, as well as the Europol representatives.

The purpose of the conference is to agree on the common counteractions against economic crime, the Deputy Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, the Head of Tax Police Andriy Holovach told, stressing this event is of high importance for all the participants.

"In course of recent meetings held with the assistance of the European Commission we have reached a basic understanding of the need to combine efforts in the fight against economic crimes. Within globalization and lowering the barriers for capital flow, the local actions of national authorities to combat the economic abuses fail to be effective,” Holovach said.

He said that currently the Ukrainian tax police are cooperating successfully with 68 countries.
"The high level of our international cooperation witness to professionalism and experience of our structure," he underlined.

It is noteworthy that the work and achievements of the Ukrainian tax police are positively evaluated by the representatives of foreign tax police, in particular by the expert of the Financial Crime Investigations Services of the Lithuanian Interior Ministry Igoris Krzhechkovskis.

"Ukrainian tax police is the largest structure in the Eastern Europe, a full member of the European tax police network. Lithuania has been already applying methods developed in Ukraine," he said.
