Starting from Friday, June 1, depositors of former USSR bank will start receiving compensations, Oshchadbank board chairman Serhiy Podrezov told a briefing in the Cabinet, ForUm correspondent reports.
"After two months of preparations we are launching the compensation program tomorrow. As of today there are 2.5 million depositors, and 1.5 million of them have already passed the qualification procedure. From June 1 about 70-80 thousand of depositors will be receiving their thousand hryvnias," the official informed.
Podrezov also informed that about 500 shops made contracts with Oshchadbank on rendering discounts to the clients, who chose to take the compensation on payment cards. In this case the clients will get 3-15% discounts for various goods.
The official does not expect any rush and queues, but admits that the first week will be tense, first of all for bank officials, as they have to learn the new payment procedure.
According to Podrezov, the payment procedure will last till December. "For this period Oshchadbank plans to pay off about six billion hryvnais - approximately one billion per month. The bank has already received the money from the Finance Ministry," the official summed up.
