The Khreschatyk and the Maidan Nezalezhnosti underground stations in Kyiv will be closed for entry and exit for the period of Euro 2012, the Head of Kyiv Transport and Communications Administration Evhen Vodovozov has announced today at a press conference.

"Within the next days Khreshchatyk and Maidan will be completely closed for exit. Maidan will keep working as a transfer station, but not for entry and exit. In calm days we may open Khreshchatyk, but Maidan will always stay closed, as its exits are situated right in the fan zone," Vodovozov said and added Khreschatyk would work by irregular hours.

He did not exclude that the underground stations near the Olympic NSC will be also working by irregular hours. However, he reminded that the Palats Sportu and the Olimpiyska underground stations will be closed four hours before matches. Their work will be resumed in an hour after the match is over.
