"I believe that as the result of the implementation of this law we will be able to truly ensure the adversarial system functioning in the criminal process, increase the efficiency of criminal proceedings and establish an effective system of protection of criminal process participants’ rights and freedoms," he said.
The President also expressed the belief that great attention should be attached to improving the organization of courts’ work and creating the appropriate conditions for citizens to defend their rights in court.
"Every citizen should feel supported by the state in accessing the justice system in the courts of all levels and specializations," the President Said.
In order to ensure that, Viktor Yanukovych said, it is necessary to improve citizens’ access to information about court hearings, give them the opportunity to file documents to courts quickly and without difficulty, create a comfortable environment for them to study cases, etc.
