Ukraine is to deepen energy cooperation with the United States of America, energy and coal minister of Ukraine Yuri Boiko said, ForUm learned from the Energy and Coal Ministry of Ukraine press office.
Minister is going to discuss the wide range of issues on mutually beneficial fuel and energy cooperation with the representatives of the U.S. government officials and companies during the next working trip to the U.S.

"We have a scheduled meeting with our U.S. colleagues within the framework of Ukraine-US Working group on energy security. Both parties have carried out exploratory studies and we are to summarize our one year work, "the minister informed.

Boiko underlined that Ukraine fulfills its obligations within bilateral agreements, in particular concerning the nuclear fuel export.

"The obligations, undertaken by Ukraine, in terms of nuclear waste disposal, are absolutely fulfilled," he said.

The minister considers that the cooperation between Ukraine and the United States should continue and deepen in the mutually beneficial way.

"We look forward to an intensive and productive dialogue with our American partners in the future," he assures.

The agenda of the visit includes discussions on the purchase of liquefied natural gas from U.S. companies, which price is well below comparing with the price of the blue fuel Ukraine imports from Russia.

"Taking into consideration that today the U.S. has cheap gas, and the U.S. government is planning to increase its exports, the negotiations will focus on the possible purchase of liquefied natural gas in America. Today the price of the U.S. gas is about 80 dollars per thousand cubic meters at the hub in Louisiana State," the minister added.
