On May 25-26 the European Parliament will appoint a representative, who will take part in the court hearings on Tymoshenko's cassation, Chairman of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Guy Verhofstadt said during the meeting with Ukraine's PM Mykola Azarov, ForUm learned from the Cabinet's press office.

"By the end of the day, maximum tomorrow we will approve a candidate for this position. It will be a well-known figure in Europe with a long political history and biography," the official said.

In his turn, PM Azarov noted that this European politician must be unbiased. "It must be an absolutely unbiased politician. Besides he must be a lawyer, or at least must have an assistant-lawyer, who knows the legislation," the Primer said and added Ukraine would provide all necessary conditions for the European representative to study the case materials.
