NATO respects Kyiv's decision concerning its non-aligned status and is not going to push Ukraine for the revision of its defense policy, Stefanie Babst, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy told a video conference Kyiv-Brussels on Thursday, according to UKRINFORM.

Babst emphasized that NATO will continue its cooperation with Ukraine within the Annual National Program to ensure that projects approved as part of the program are implemented, and practical results are brought".

The NATO official also added that the Alliance welcomed the participation of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in the Chicago summit, during which the Ukrainian leader stressed the country's commitment to provide assistance to Afghanistan, as well as involvement in NATO's Operation Ocean Shield off the Horn of Africa.
