Ukraine’s participation in large-scale international events corresponds with our national interests, President Viktor Yanukovych told journalists in Chicago, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.
“Any contacts correspond with our country’s national interests and help solving different issues,” he said when asked about the purpose of his participation in the meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the Nations contributing to the ISAF in Chicago.
Viktor Yanukovych pointed to the fact that such Summits provide opportunities of informal bilateral meetings. He added that he had had a number of such conversations with his colleagues from other countries. “That is very important,” he said.
Speaking about EURO 2012 Yanukovych assured once again that holding the event at a worthy level is a matter of image of Ukraine.
"This is the most important event for us this year," he said, adding that Ukraine would surely welcome the EURO 2012 guests and fans warmly.
