Speaker of Ukraine's parliament Volodymyr Lytvyn is convinced that current parliament will not adopt changes to the Constitution regarding the deputy immunity.

He said this at the meeting of the conciliatory board, commenting on the statements by the opposition on necessity to cancel immunity not only for deputies, but for the President and judges as well.

"Hold your horses with this immunity, because I am sure that deep in heart all of you are against it," Lytvyn said and reminded that if deputy immunity is canceled there will be no need in parliament's consent to the institution of a criminal case against a deputy.

Lytvyn noted that neither the opposition nor the majority wants such changes to the Constitution. "Don't lie to people. It's amazing how you want to take on voters," he said.

According to the speaker, everybody understands that it is impossible to take the decision this plenary session, while at the next plenary session (which starts in September) it will be not allowed to introduce changes to the Constitution.

"Let's do our job, not what you are doing now. In public you all stand for people, but in reality you know that nothing will be adopted," Lytvyn said and added it is easy to stand for people when you have "bread with butter on both sides."
