The European Parliament is planning to send to Ukraine European physicians and lawyers with the purpose of providing medical and legal assistance to ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

This agreement was reached by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz during their meeting in Brussels Wednesday, UKRINFORM reported.

Schulz said he had discussed with Azarov consideration by the European Parliament of the possibility of sending European medical experts to Ukraine, in addition to the German doctor who is already dealing with Tymoshenko's health.

He also expressed the belief that high-level European lawyers should participate in the Tymoshenko case during the appeal proceedings to fully support her rights. The President of the European Parliament said, immediately after the press conference he would get in touch with the leading, reputable European lawyers, so that they could be invited to take part in the process. This agreement was reached with Azarov, he said, adding, it would be a significant step toward improving the level of trust and cooperation between the EU and Ukraine.
