Ukraine remains a supporter of the idea of trilateral gas consortium between Ukraine, Russia, and Europe, President Viktor Yanukovych told journalists in Moscow, ForUm learned frm the presidential press office.
The President said that Ukraine is currently waiting for the audit by an international company to assess our country’s GTS to complete.
"Firstly, we are unable to modernize the system by ourselves. Secondly, it needs to be filled with gas and preserved as a system capable of delivering gas to Europe effectively and consistently," Viktor Yanukovych said.
He also said that he has discussed the issue with President Vladimir Putin at their today’s meeting. "We have discussed this subject too; there is interest remaining, but we will talk when we have the assessment [of the GTS]," said Viktor Yanukovych.
