The Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law in the first reading on making amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine” (regarding distribution of authorities).

250 people's deputies voted for the government's draft law No. 10274, UKRINFORM report.

According to proposed amendments, Prime Minister, First Vice Prime Minister and Vice Prime Ministers, if they do not head any ministry and state collegiate bodies will have a right to submit draft acts of the Cabinet for the government's consideration.

“The aim of this draft law is normative legal maintenance of the Cabinet's authority regarding division of powers among First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Vice Prime Ministers of Ukraine in case that they do not head ministries, as well as state collegiate bodies,” a statement of the Verkhovna Rada information department reads.

People's deputies also voted for preparation of this draft law for the second reading according to the abbreviated procedure - to the second plenary week (May 22-25).

To remind, First Vice Prime Minister Valeriy Khoroshkovsky is the only person who heads no ministry. The rest of Premiers, such as Borys Kolesnikov, Serhiy Tihipko and Raisa Boharyriova are respectively heading the Infrastructure Ministry, the Social Policy Ministry and the Health Ministry.
